Meshed is pleased to facilitate a workshop session for Makers and anyone who may be interested in setting up a MakerSpace in their community. Meshed is a social enterprise established with the intent of serving the local (NZ) Maker-community, by serving as a bridge connecting makers across Aotearoa.
MakerSpaces, HackerSpaces and Fab Labs come in many shapes and sizes, but they all start and end with the most crucial element: PEOPLE. The more diverse a group, the more interesting and robust Spaces seem to be, so we invite as many different Makers and different kinds of voices to collaborate and contribute to this session that will provide a solid background about the ins and outs of setting up a Maker Space.
The session format will be similar to an unconference, keeping it simple and loose:
Come away with a better idea of who your locals are who’s keen to participate, add complementary energy, interest and skills, and how to better contribute back to your respective space(s) or group(s). Meshed will bring their years of experience of Maker Spaces and knowledge about what works, what doesn’t, what’s essential and where to find the best resources.
— About: —
Meshed is a social enterprise established with the intent of serving the local (NZ) Maker-community, by serving as a bridge connecting people, and addressing issues around isolation in our community.
We’ve found that many Makers seem to operate somewhat in isolated islands – independent thinkers; who’da think it? – so it’s our intent to help grow a stronger Maker-community across Aotearoa.
