April Storm 3D is a prop maker, that uses digital fabrication techniques like 3D printing to make props for movies and stage. They will share the space with Girl Geek Academy with the mission to teach one million women technical skills by 2025.
April Staines is a seasoned technology leader and passionate girl geek with over 15 years’ professional industry experience. Currently positioned as Digital Engineer at National Bank of Australia (NAB), April has worked with the organisation for over a decade providing security advice and technology consulting across the digital divisions. In 2014, April co-founded social organisation Girl Geek Academy, with a mission to teach 1 million women to get into tech and launch their own startups by 2025. April sits as Maker programs lead at Girl Geek Academy, teaching women how to “make” by developing and honing their skills across all things code. April is also the Founder of the Open Source Prop Group which specialises in using 3D printing and CNC machining for the open source creation and sharing of 3D models for the digital fabrication of replica movie props.
