Maker Faire is a gathering of fascinating, curious people who enjoy learning and who love sharing what they can do. From engineers to artists to scientists to crafters, Maker Faire is a venue for these “makers” to show hobbies, experiments, projects. At Maker Faire Wellington you’ll see a celebration of the creative Maker community in New Zealand!
Maker Faire Wellington will be held at Shed 6, on Queens Wharf.
Sunday 20 October at 10am-4pm
You can expect a bit of the unexpected! Maker Faire Wellington is being curated so that there’s lots of interactive fun, demonstrations, art performance, and a collection of Makers that show the wide range of skills and creativity in this community. From crochet to metal work, coding to puppets, miniature models to giant models… there’s a bit of everything! And, there might be robots.
There is a Wilson car park right next to Shed 6 and other parking not too far from Queens Wharf. You can find more information about parking in Wellington here.
The team from Capital E are producing Maker Faire Wellington! Based in Te Whanganui a Tara, Wellington, Capital E is New Zealand’s leading children’s creativity charity. We ignite and fuel the spark of creativity in children and young people with fun, transformative creative experiences. From our home on Queens Wharf, we provide a free play space for little ones and a state-of-the-art digital suite and TV studio for school students and every year our National Theatre for Children hits the road and tours across the country with theatre shows.
We know that seeing Makers in action will inspire you to pick up a tool (of any sort) and have a go at Making!
Sure is! This is a family-friendly event so children of all ages along with caregivers, aunties, uncles and grandparents can come along and enjoy!
